What is —

Kraft?

※ Unbleached Wood-Pulp Paper

The craft-honest brown paper. Signals handmade, organic and sustainable — and wicks water the instant it meets it. Beautiful in a dry pantry, wrong in a fridge.

§ 01

What it is

Kraft is unbleached wood-pulp paper with a natural brown, tactile look that signals handmade, organic, and sustainable. The facestock is fully recyclable and compostable. It is the default for craft beer, organic food, tea, and handmade soap when the goal is an honest, low-processing visual signal.

§ 02

Where it fits
— and its limits

Kraft is not waterproof — it wicks moisture, wrinkles, and smudges. A PE coating or wax improves grease and moisture resistance; a matte OPP laminate protects label-grade use (though a laminate compromises the compostable story). Best kept to dry indoor settings. Fine lines and small type may need adjustment for the rough fibre.

One honesty note for sustainability claims: the kraft facestock may be compostable, but a standard permanent-acrylic adhesive is not — a fully cradle-to-grave compostable label needs a compostable adhesive grade specified.
