What is —

Polycarbonate?

※ Lexan Overlay Film

The control-panel overlay. Impact-resistant, optically clear, printed on its underside so the graphics never wear off — built for buttons people press ten thousand times.

§ 01

What it is

Polycarbonate is the go-to for high-touch, high-wear industrial overlays: impact-resistant, optically clear, dimensionally stable, and available with hardcoat or textured finishes to resist scratching. It is best printed second-surface — the image goes on the underside, with the polycarbonate itself as the protective layer — so the graphics never abrade. Service runs roughly −40 °C to +120 °C with good chemical resistance.

§ 02

Where it fits
— and its limits

It is the material for control-panel overlays, medical-device nameplates, and aerospace or instrument labels — anywhere a printed surface has to survive constant handling. The trade-offs: it costs more than PET, and it can yellow outdoors over time, so it is an indoor / enclosed-equipment material rather than a long-term outdoor one.
