Pick BOPP
  • The label wraps a curved bottle — beverage, cosmetic, personal care.
  • You want the no-label "clear" look — BOPP is the standard transparent film.
  • Conditions are ambient to refrigerated and waterproofing is the main demand.
  • You’re running volume and cost matters — BOPP is the more economical film.
Pick PET
  • The product must survive high heat — hot-fill, equipment, under-hood.
  • It goes in a freezer or cold chain (down to −40 °C) or is dishwasher-bound.
  • The surface is oily, solvent- or chemical-exposed, or an industrial nameplate.

Is BOPP waterproof?

Yes — Euphora BOPP is rated Waterproof Level 5. It doesn’t absorb water or delaminate when wet, which is why it’s the standard facestock for beverage and cosmetic bottle labels.

Can BOPP labels go in the freezer?

Standard BOPP becomes brittle below roughly −15 °C and can crack or lift. For freezer and cold-chain use, specify a cold-rated grade — or use PET, which stays flexible down to −40 °C. Don’t use standard BOPP on frozen goods.

Which handles heat better, BOPP or PET?

PET. It tolerates roughly −40 °C to +150 °C and resists oils, solvents and chemicals, so it’s the choice for hot-fill, equipment and industrial labels. BOPP softens under sustained high heat.

Is PET more expensive than BOPP?

Yes, PET typically costs more. Rule of thumb: use BOPP unless the environment — heat, deep cold, chemicals, or a dishwasher — specifically demands PET’s durability.

Which gives the "no-label" clear look?

BOPP. Clear and ultra-clear BOPP is the standard no-label-look film for premium beverage and cosmetic bottles. PET clarity is good, but BOPP is the go-to for that invisible wrap.

Do BOPP or PET labels need lamination outdoors?

For ambient indoor use, no. For long-term outdoor exposure both need a UV-resistant laminate or overprint varnish plus UV-stable inks — no film alone survives years of sun and rain unprotected.

Reach for PET when the product’s environment forces it: heat, freezer, dishwasher, oils and chemicals, or a nameplate that has to last years outdoors. The expensive mistake is the freezer: standard BOPP goes brittle below about −15 °C, so frozen goods need a cold-rated grade or PET — not standard BOPP.
